How to Make a Widget

Data Widget

Data Widget allow you to display and visualize the data you’ve brought into the platform. Assembling multiple widgets allows you to create custom dashboards and tell a story.
 

  1. Click the Add widget button on the top right hand side of the custom dashboard                                
  2. Select the New data widget option                                                                                             
  3. Select a Datasource from the drop down menu – either Data Sources or Channels
  4. If you chose Data Sources, follow the steps under this
    1. Select a Service from the drop down menu (See image below)                               
    2. Select a Data View from the drop down menu, this will bring you to another page
    3. Click on the Select a data column to see the drop down menu of metrics
    4. Once a column is selected you will see Widget Types appear along the top of the page. Note that the grayed out options will tell you why they are grayed out if you hover over them. (See the image below)
    5. Enter the name for your widget in the Enter a title box
    6. Choose the Widget type you want
    7. Ensure all your metrics are added as data columns and all alterations are made
    8. Click the Save button in the bottom left corner
  5. If you chose Channels, follow the steps under this
    1. Select a Category from the drop down menu, this will bring you to another page                                                   
    2. Click on the Select a data column to see the drop down menu of metrics
    3. Once a column is selected you will see Widget Types appear along the top of the page. Note that the grayed out options will tell you why they are grayed out if you hover over them. (See the image below)
    4. Enter the name for your widget in the Enter a title box
    5. Choose the Widget type you want
    6. Ensure all your metrics are added as data columns and all alterations are made
    7. Click the Save button in the bottom left corner

 

 

Media Widget

Media Widgets are basically free form tiles with robust formatting options. These widgets can be used as companions to a data widget, as a header or footer, or as a location for displaying your pre-defined media content.
 

  1. Click the Add widget button on the top right hand side of the custom dashboard                    
  2. Select the New media widget option                                                                                  
  3. Enter your desired text, link, image, video, or table
  4. When done click the save button on the bottom right

Media Widget Functionality:

  • You can format your text
    • paragraph
    • Quote
    • Code
    • Header sizes 1-6
  • You can choose from a variety of font styles
    • Arial
    • Arial Black
    • Comic Sans MS
    • Courier New
    • Helvetica
    • Impact
    • Lato
    • Tahoma
    • Times New Roman
    • Verdana
  • You can change the font size - 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, 24, 36
  • You can choose both the color of the font and the background (highlight) color - we have the standard color options 
  • You can also style the text with the standard items
    • Bold, Italic, Underline
    • Bulleted and Numbered Lists
    • Adjust your text alignment
    • Alter the line height
  • Grids are maxed at 10x10 in the media widget
  • Links can be places in the media widgets with text of your choice showing rather than the full URL
  • Images can be added either by uploading the m or by entering the image URL 
  • Videos can be added by URL or embedded via the code view
    • If by URL then the following Data Sources are supported – YouTube, Vimeo, Vine, Instagram, DailyMotion, and Youku
  • You can use the standard view to enter content or use the code view to enter content via HTML code
